Let go of what’s no longer serving you

I want to start today’s post by saying a huge THANK YOU to everyone who responded to my plea for advice on my last post. I received a great response here on WordPress and on the Instagram page, all of which were kind and helpful. Once again, I’ve been blown away by the true selflessness and care of the sober community. You are all amazing – thank you.

Now that my gushing gratitude has been professed, I want to share with you my new favourite mantra:

Let go of what’s no longer serving you.

It’s so beautiful and simple – I love it! I picked it up from doing the wonderful Yoga With Adriene course Home, a 30 days yoga practice which is available on YouTube. I have found it monumentally helpful both on and off the mat. (Does that make me sound like a proper yogi? Yay!)

These past two days, work has been a grind. Now that everyone is furloughed, I’m on the front line of dealing with customers, some of whom are nice and some of whom are not. I’ve found myself whispering the mantra to myself a hundred times a day, reminding myself to let go of the anger and not allow it to disrupt my entire day. You know what? It’s starting to work! Today, I’ve woken feeling happy and excited for the day ahead! I’m not holding onto the anxiety about difficult customers I know I need to deal with (on the phone and email), instead I’ve let it go of what’s not serving me.

Letting go of what no longer serves you creates room for that which does. Beautiful things like self-love, kindness, gratitude, happiness and calmness. I also believe it helps with mental clarity; if your mind isn’t clouded by dark thoughts you can see what direction you need to move in rather than becoming stagnated.

I know in my heart of hearts that alcohol no longer serves me, and I am continuing to work on letting it go (side note, today is day 90 of sobriety – woohoo!). To help, I’m currently reading The Naked Mind by Annie Grace – I’ll let you know how it pans out!

Today, I challenge you to let go of what’s not serving you. Have a beautiful day everyone. 😊

  1. Huge congratulations on 90 days … phenomenal achievement. ❤️💕💥
And awesome post Paige. The real change for me was when I had peace and I felt calm. That I could control that and manage my emotions and reactions. That brought me so much joy. Thanks for the Yoga suggested .. Adrienne ‘home’ … I’m looking that up tomorrow. You have done amazingly well and should be so proud of yourself. Well done. 😘 xx

    1. Thank you so much! The peace is wonderful and I’m finding that I grow into a little more each day😊 I hope you enjoy the yoga! 💜💜
